Enrique Andivia
Principal Investigator
I am a forest ecologist researching plant-plant, plant-soil and plant-environment interactions in forest ecosystems in a context of global change. My objectives are to improve our understanding of the structural and functional response of forest ecosystems to different drivers of global change at different spatial and temporal scales in order to improve the success of forest restoration and management measures for the adaptation of these ecosystems to changing environmental conditions.
María Esther Pérez-Corona
Researcher
My scientific interest currently focuses on the impacts of various drivers of global change on ecosystem functioning and their response to future changes. In particular, I study the factors controlling the invasion of alien species and the effects of climate change and nitrogen deposition on ecosystems.
Juan Antonio Delgado
Researcher
I am broadly interested in ecology and conservation of biodiversity in the context of global change. My research focuses mainly on understanding the responses of organisms to a variety of natural and anthropogenic factors, especially the consequences and causes of the intraspecific variation of functional traits.
María Dolores Jiménez
Researcher
My research focuses on identifying key processes involved in the functioning of different types of ecosystems, with the aim of interpreting the extent to which human activity can alter the natural processes that govern their functioning. In this context, I am interested in the effect of climate change on the functioning of high Andean ecosystems, and its possible ecological and social consequences.

Research Assisstant
Carmen Ureña
PhD student
I am working on interactions between species in Mediterranean mixed and pure oaks and pines forests in relation to climate change under the supervision of Professor Enrique Andivia and Esther Pérez Corona.
Pedro Rebollo
PhD student
I am working on the Iberian forest dynamics, the spatial patterns of tree mortality and damage under the global change context and studying its impacts on ecosystem multifunctionality. For it, I mainly work with the Spanish Forest Inventory and other large databases
Pablo Yeste-Lizán
Research Assisstant
I am environmental scientist. I have worked as a research technician for the University of Granada in its ECOClimb Project, studying the effects of rock-climbing on cliff plants. I'm currently working for the Biology Faculty of the Complutense University of Madrid, namely as a Research Assistant on the Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution Department.
Paloma Ruiz-Benito
Researcher
I am a forest ecologist interested in better understanding the interactive effects of climate and land use change on forest functioning. My research seeks to study the mechanisms linking global environmental change, forest structure and dynamics and functional biogeography. My approach is strongly focused on the use of adequate modeling techniques and complex data around the world, from large-scale forest inventories to field-work data.
Asier Herrero
Researcher
My research focuses in the analysis of the resilience of forest ecosystems to extreme climatic events, mainly droughts and strong winds. In addition, I study the role of biotic interactions (competition, herbivory, facilitation) as modulators of the demographic responses of tree species to climate.
Javier Vázquez-Piqué
Researcher
My research focuses on modelling the growth and production of Mediterranean forest species.
Enrique de la Riva
Researcher
I am trained as a researcher of Plant Ecology, focusing particularly on the functioning and dynamics of Mediterranean ecosystems. My research is primarily based on functional traits approach, and deals with aspects of ecology ranging from ecophysiology to ecosystem ecology. I assess the functional structure of plant communities and its changes under different scenes, such as natural environ mental gradients, invasive processes or extreme climatic events.
Laura Marqués
Researcher
My research focuses on evaluating the impacts of global change on forest ecosystems. I am interested in understanding tree growth responses to changes in climate and forest structure. I am currently investigating changes in forest dynamics due to higher carbon assimilation. My approach includes the use of dendrochronological methods and forest inventory data in combination with vegetation models.
Elena Granda
Researcher
I am Assistant Professor at the University of Alcalá currently focusing on the study of functional differences of invaded and native forested communities. My research lines address tree responses and adjustments to biotic and abiotic stresses at population and community scales. I study, through multidisciplinary approaches (e.g. community ecology, dendroecology, ecophysiology), the effects of global change on woody plant functioning.
Victor Rolo
Researcher
My research focuses on the biophysical, dynamic and structural analysis of forest and agroforestry systems, especially with regard to their production, functioning and management.
